Reinforced Concrete Beam Design Spreadsheet

You can download our Reinforced Concrete Beam Design Spreadsheet for free. If you like it, please like and share.

Watch the video discussing how you can input data and interpret the results. Please note that you can also print the detailed solution on the other tabs.

Reinforcement computations and ACI code compliance are all considered in the calculations. Stirrups calculations are also considered in the stirrups tab.

    Good day sir!

I downloaded your spreadsheets for RC Beam design. I checked it and unfortunately Macros don’t run. I enable it but same notification that the Macro is not available or not enabled.
Can you help me with this?

Thanks for your knowledge and generosity. More power and God bless.

    Good day!

I checked the file and yes there is a problem with the macros (it was not a problem before). Fortunately, the buttons used here to DO NOT affect anything regarding the calculations and results. The buttons are used only to transfer from 1 sheet to another (e.g. from data to results sheets). Instead of using the button, you can manually select the tabs/sheets.

    Thank you.

How can i put the data if i use the usual reinforcement here in the philippines which is example 3 compression bar and 2 tension bar at support AND 3 tension bar and 2 compression bar at midspan?? Thanks a lot sir…

  4. Admin says:

Hi Eva, You have to design the beam of its moment at support. Run the program for that. Then, run again the beam design program for your data at midspan. In that way, you will come up with rebars at support and safe rebars at midspan. Of course, the beam section data (say 200mm x 300mm concrete section) should be the same for both.

Thanks a lot sir. If im not mistaken, i accidentally did that. Runnning the data separately for support and modspan.. in midspan, the result says its compatible with case 2 which in fact it says there PASS. When i look also for the case 1, i see also PASS. So, i only need to print the computation at case 2??? On the other hand While running the result at support, it says there use case 1. When i click the tab for case1, it says there FAIL.. but PASS on case 2.. hows that sir???

I also have concern on the footing.. i believed sir that the number of bars there is already bothways??? Lets say the number of bars appeared is 6.. so i conclude 6 bothways??? Super thanks sir for the fast reply… thank u

Actually sir, in the footing data, there is the moment due to liveload and deadload at x and y axis… using staad to get the moment, i had the data of moment at x axis only.. i input all data at Pll, Pdl, Mlx, Mdx… but i put zero on Mdy and Mly. Would that be okay sir? actually sir, i used the Mz result at staad and put that on Mlx and Mdx. And as i have said earlier zero for the.moment at y axis.. am i correct po sir??? Thanks again..

    Hi Eva,

Sorry I have been busy lately. Regarding beam, yes only the appropriate case is to be printed (Case 1 or 2). If ti fails in that case, increase the design section or rebars dia or no or rebar etc..

Footing, yes that is 6 bothways.

If you analyse it in STAAD as “Space” and not “Frame”, you can usually get moments on both direction but you can put zero in case there is no moment on the other axis.

The problem with Staad is the Mz value is already for LL and DL right? Let say Max Mz for Staad is 30KN-m (for LL and DL). What I do is just approximate and just make sure Mlx and Mdx = Mz. But is you can get Mlx and Mdx in Staad , the better.

By the way, you can countercheck my spreadsheet results using Reinforced Concrete Design Books or reviewers. When I made that one, I used reviewers from Besavilla as well as calculation steps from STAAD (in the beam spreadsheet).

Please sir, i down loaded the RCBEAMDESIGN and it said “cannot run the macros” so what do i do?
    Thanks…

    Good morning,
I have downloaded the Reinforced Concrete Beam Design Spreadsheet. It looks great but the Data Page is locked and needs a password to change any input data. It is hard to evaluate without being able to change the input data. Please can you tell me how to get a password?
    Thanks

Hello sir. Good Day. I tried to use your excel in design of square footing. and i need to put data on Mdx, Mlx, Mdy an Mly. Just a clarification sir; is the X and Y in those moment refer to the x and y axis? is the orientation of those axis the same with the global axis of xyz in staad?
